DJ BIOGRAPHY
Gazzmann has been DJing since 1996 and having played many varied genres throughout the years he finally settled into the Deep House groove that he plays today, although remaining true to his early Progressive House influences by sculpting gently building musical rhythms, jazzy deep summery moods and groovy hypnotic techno grooves within his sets.
Gazzmann loves his music and not just that within the club scene. He has a great amount of musical knowledge and cites influences from a broad spectrum of styles and genres. Including Ambient, Lounge, Electronic, Indie, right through to Folk and Rock. This has lead to him hosting a monthly Podcast called The Eclectic Selection which features such a mixture of music.
In the past Gazzmann has worked with many great DJs, especially Dave Oliver. Having ran his own nights for over 8 years in various guises including Region2 and Widescreen, and at various venues in York including Dusk, Blue Fly, The Basement, Judges’, The Junction and The Speakeasy (now Stereo). Region2 currently runs monthly at Mansion Nightclub.
Region2 has received much acclaim over the years, regularly appearing in all the major Dance Music magazines as one of the best small nights in the North. iDJ Magazine said Region2 was “the freshest free night on the York scene” while Mixmag declared that “this is a proper DIY night that has a great vibe, thanks in part to its equally great door tax”.
As DJs Gazzmann & Dave Oliver are an integral part of that success, having run Region2 since 2006, they have evolved complimentary styles which sees Gazzmann blending deep groovy house with Dave’s dirtier tech sound. With over 20 years DJing experience between them Gazzmann & Dave Oliver really know how to rock a party, subtly mixing styles and building the groove as only experienced resident DJs know how. For a no nonsense underground vibe Region2 is where it’s at.
